Team Muggles

Muggles, TDI, CGC, is a certified therapy dog through Therapy Dog Incorporated.  She is also certified as a Canine Good Citizen through the American Kennel Club.  Muggles was born in 2002 as Rutlands Snuggles, a female breeding dog for the breeding program at Rutland Manor Labradoodle Breeding and Research Center.  Muggles breed is called an Australian Service Dog™, also known as the genuine Australian Labradoodle.

Muggles’ mom, Cara Heilmann, is studying to become a certified dog trainer with Animal Behavior College.  She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and volunteers as a trainer with the Hawaii Dog Foundation.  Cara has been involved in animal rescue work since 1995.

Australian Service Dog

The Australian Service Dog™ is a fascinating breed with its origins in the Australia.  The story is best told by Beverley Manners, owner of Rutland Manor Labradoodle Research Center, and co-founder of this beautiful breed.

In an effort to provide clarity regarding the breed, co-founders, Beverley Manners and Angela Cunningham, recently changed the official name of the breed from Australian Labradoodle to the Australian Service Dog™.

With a son allergic to dogs and another rascal child in the home, the options for an allergy friendly and kid friendly dog were limited.  What Cara discovered was a new world of forward thinking breeders who, over many years, created a dog that was non-shedding, allergy friendly, varied in size, very intelligent, excellent with kids, and with fantastic temperaments.
